VTT - JUST A CROCK OF . . . PICKLES!


I hope you didn't think my heading was meant to conjure up thoughts of naughty words! Actually, today it's not just one crock, but many! Some of these are family heirlooms, although I'm not sure which ones except the largest - a pickle crock that was my great grandfather's. It stands 23 inches tall (58 cm) and 18 inches (46 cm) across - that's alotta pickles! One of my brothers downsized from a 3-bedroom duplex to a one-bedroom apartment and asked if I wanted these - of course I did!

If anyone knows where I can hunt for crock info and worth, I'd appreciate any help!

    I love your old crocks! It's wonderful you still have the lids. They're usually the first ones to break. Love the jugs too

    I'm not sure where to find crock info -- sorry. But I also have several crocks. They belonged to my Ex's grandmother who used them for pickles. I use mine for flour; they don't all have lids. But I love them as well; and as my dear Ex is gone now, I'm glad the children will have them when I go!

    Are you using yours for pickle making?

    Those are amazing! Im not sure exactly where to look but I got one at a sale once and was able to find information just by googling pickle crocks - crown crocks, fermenting crocks. There was a variety of words I used. I think alot of the came out of ohio - I might have also used ohio pottery.

    But there is lots of info on the internet to be had

    These are very old and a great collection. I have found the best place to research is on E-bay for older things. I am sure you are aware of this.

    Nice collection. Love the big one. I've been trying to find one to put all my green handled utensils in, but they are so expensive. I keep looking.

    Oh my golly! I love your crocks. I collect them myself, but can't give you any tips on info on them. I just like them for their aesthetic appeal to me. Thanks for showing them off here.

    Wonderful family heirlooms! I love crocks, and always had hopes of finding some in my grandparents' cellar, because Grandma made lots of pickles and sauerkraut. No crocks, just lots of canning jars!

    Love those old family crocks! My Mom has a couple that she keeps her magazines and knitting in, next to her easy chair. And I have to admit I have my eye on them.

    Love these. I have a very large one on my front porch that my brother-in-law gave me, big enough for a tree. Nothing is made this well any more.
