THE BIG DAY

Are you a Royal watcher?

I am! And I will be getting up at 4:00 a.m. to watch the wedding! (*groan*) Well, I am about 95% Brit, so it's my duty to sacrifice sleep for the monarchy! I'll catch a nap later in the afternoon.

So, I went to the local bakery this morning looking for scones ~
~ but, of course, being an Italian bakery, they didn't have any. (They laughed when I said I needed them for the wedding!) Didn't feel like traipsing to all the supermarkets looking for them, so I think I'll just settle for the English muffins I have at home.

I have the royal china all ready for my early-morning breakfast! This set belonged to my maternal grandmother, made by Alfred Meakin. (I still have relatives over in Blighty that I haven't seen since the 70's.)

Or maybe I'll just sip my coffee from this Golden Jubilee (50th anniversary) mug that I have.

Whichever I choose, I'm sure to have a smashing time in my posh royal (bath)robe! Oh, dear, I don't have a hat to wear - can't go to a royal wedding without a hat! Ah, yes . . . my garden-dirty Red Sox cap!

I'll be looking for you in the crowd!

I'm linking this post to Suzanne's Vintage Thingie Thursday today!

  8. Wow -- you ARE going all out! I can't decide yet whether I'm getting up at 3 a.m. or not, but I'm DYING to see Kate's dress.

Lovely collection you have, by the way.

  16. I watched a portion on my computer at work and then I watched the whole thing on BBC last night. Beautiful! William was born 2 months after my son and I have always felt a closeness to him.

  18. Yes, I was up at 4am and the wedding started at 6am. So I lay there until quarter to 6 and did watched it. LOve the the bride's dress as well as her maid of honor too. So different when she picked white for the bridemaids. So sleek and clean look. I wishh all the happiness for then. Just couldn't get enough of it.
    Have a great week.

  19. we in new zealand were lucky, it started at a decent time at 7pm. I was more excited when Princes Di was wedded. i was younger than, and didn't have two men asking me why are you watching. I watched until the exchange of vows.

  20. I was one of the few people that slept through it and watched the highlights. I was excited, but not 4 AM excited. I did really enjoy the get ups that Beatrice and Eugenie were wearing though. Now, those were some hats!
