BACK TO HOME SCHOOL! and MORNING GLORIES

Pre-teen is starting home school today!

These are a few of the books we'll be using other than the "basics". The Brendan Voyage for Geography; Heroes for Young Readers - Missionaries; Whatever Happened to Penny Candy? - Economics; English Literature for Boys & Girls (H. E. Marshall, 1909); and Basic Cooking.
I, for the most part, follow the curriculum guide from Ambleside Online, which uses the Charlotte Mason method of home schooling. Charlotte Mason, who taught in the 1890's, is considered the "founder" of the modern home school movement. You can read more about her method HERE, or on Google.

Now, how about some Morning Glories!

This first one is the notorious noxious weed called Bindweed. It's as pretty as any Morning Glory, with just a hint of pale pink on them (washed out in this photo) - but don't let them grow in your garden!
The ever popular 'Heavenly Blue'.

This is from the Burpee 'Celestial Mix', which reseeded itself this year.Burpee 'Candy Pink'

'Yellow Trumpet' M.G. getting ready to open, from Diane's Seeds.
One can never have too many Morning Glories!

I was very surprised to spot a fuschia and white ruffled morning glory this weekend, that had snuck up behind a bush, never getting a drop of extra water, poor thing! Gave it a good drink...yours are so pretty, and those yellow buds look mighty interesting!

I love morning glories and have tried to grow them from seed but they just don't like my garden and the slugs love them so haven't had much success. I didn't realise you get so many colours.

Hi Sue,
I like Morning Glory, but it grows so fast that sometimes it's hard to keep it under control. I have a limited space and there is really no space between my property line and my neighbor's. When I was growing it, it invaded their yards and they were not too happy:-( so I had to get rid of it. Oh well, there are plenty of other plants to grow. Have a wonderful day.

Smiles,
♥Ana

Hope you have a great school week! Loved the morning glories. We had two raised beds that ran the full length of our previous house. I really miss them this year (we moved last October).

I love morning glories! One of my fondest memories of my grandpa was him tending to his morning glories he had on white picket fence and on strings up the side of his garage....my grandmother was an incredible gardner with flowers, but the morning glories were his!!! This brought back alot of good memories! :)
