REDNESDAY - CHRISTMAS REDS #1
Welcome everyone to this first Rednesday of the Christmas season!
These first two items are from the thrift store on Monday. Would you believe I got the two gorgeous Christmas handkerchiefs for 35 cents each? I still can't believe my luck! (And, by the way, is anyone else irritated that the cent sign is no longer on the keyboard?) Now for a good washing!
The handkerchief is on the right, the left one is a napkin, and a cute little Santa hat.
This is a box of lights that Mister pulled out of the barn. He said it was in a cardboard box of miscellaneous lights he got at a yard sale years ago. I had to put tape on just about every corner and seam, but it looks just fine now!
And, this is a box of vintage wrapping paper that I got from Ebay. I love the cover best (standing up), which also needed a bit of tape!
I'm sure I'll be seeing lots of Christmas and holiday reds today! (P.S. - DON'T FORGET MY GIVEAWAY!)

Your hankies are gorgeous, especially that first one! It's worthy of framing! And that light box is so great. I'm really starting to love those old boxes. They're just as good as what's inside them!
Happy Rednesday!
Carol
I love your great finds. I know what you mean about the cent key. I guess that shows my age (I have no idea how old you are so I won't even got there!) :) Great wrapping paper as well!

It's a conspiracy! "They" want to get rid of the penney!
Oh my, those handkerchiefs and the napkin are beautiful. Love the papers too.
Who could resist such a great pun! "Yule Glo" really bright with these lights!
Hugs,
Dawn

What lovely red Christmas treasures you found, Sue, and for such a great bargain! I'm so looking forward to seeing all the Christmas decorations...thanks so much for being our hostess for Rednesday!
God bless,

Waht a score on the hankies! Thrift store finds are the best! I love, love that wrapping paper with the deer and little girls! ♥
I have a hankerchief like that! and we of course had those lights. Love all your pics and your blog looks extra cheery with the beautiful Christmas images :) Happy Rednesday!
Your blog is so cute and the Rednesday linky thing is right up my alley, sooooooo--here I am! I have a wonderful set of Christmas linens (tablecloth and napkins) that I'm going to have to hunt down in my storage--I forget about it every year and really need to use it!
Have a beautiful day,
Chris
Some very pretty Christmas REDs! I don't have any of my Christmas stuff out yet. I still don't know if I am going to or not. No energy or motivation at the moment. Perhaps this weekend I will feel better.
What wonderful finds, Sue! I love the first hankie. Have a wonderful day.
Blessings,
Sandi

Merry Christmas Rednesday!

First of all, YES, I still look for the cent symbol on the keyboard, and it annoys me that it is gone. Pshaw!
Those hankies are just darling. Wow, they remind me of being a little girl -- my mother had boxes of hankies in her dresser and there were "hers" and then there were the lesser ones for my sister and me!
We always had to carry two -- one for show, and one for blow!

The hankies are just too sweet! I love hankies but they seem very hard to find in my area. I miss the cent sign on the computer soooooo much! Yes I'm old, lol, but not ancient!
Having computer trouble today so no post for me to link up. Hoping to get photos taken and ready for next week!
Very lovely Christmas finds! I've never seen Christmas hankies before! The wrapping paper is pretty too. I had no time for Rednesday today, but I hope I'll join the party next week! Maybe by than I've unpacked my boxes with Christmas stuff!
Hi Sue,
Thank you for stopping by. I'm glad you enjoyed the story of my grandmother. She was quite a lady. Her baby sister, my great-aunt Vera, outlived her by about thirty years. She lived in the same community as my grandmother after they grew up, and were able to visit one another often. My great- aunt raised a brood of very well educated people herself; including people in government and the ministry. I was a flower girl in one of Aunt Vera's daughters' weddings, because she and my mother were best friends. So, despite their poor start in life, both little girls did very well for themselves. I didn't mention it in my post but my grandparents were quite well to do and helped out many in the community less fortunate than themselves. I am very proud of them!
Blessings,
Sandi
I'm joining your blog party for the first time today, but I can't figure out the McLinky thing-- I went ahead and signed up with them, but how do I add myself to the list?
Also, the cent sign thing bugs me too! You can do a shortcut and make one by holding down the Alt key + 0162: ¢ Groovy, huh?
LOVE the light box!
You always seem to find the neatest things at thrift store. I NEVER have that kind of luck! And I have never seen a box of lights like that before. Too neat! I love the wrapping paper. I was just thinking at work today to frame some vintage wallpaper and maybe lay a black silhouette (sp?) on top... or a silver one. Not sure yet.
All of your vintage Christmas pretties are so sweet. You have such a good eye for these treasures. Thank you for sharing them with us!
