IT'S ALL MINE
How many times have you viewed others' blog photos, or magazine photos, and lusted after them, wishing they were yours instead of (or along with) what you have? (Like I do with Magpie Ethel's among others!)
Well, I happened to peek in at the Bella Della Farm blog today and her post from yesterday, January 27, helped put it all into perspective. She starts out by saying, "It's a little bit of this and a little bit of that, but it's mine." You can read the rest of her viewpoint by clicking on her name above.
Okay, so I have to admit, I do love all the things I have (except for my living room furniture), but that won't stop me from driving to the thrift store! Here's what I picked up this morning ~
(Of course, Chloe has to check everything out, too!) A few old books, two 1900's French books for Teen, poker chips for crafts, some little craft sticker thingies, two spools of ribbon, a wood mug tree that will get painted, a smaller glass canister (I have a weakness for these!), a cool yellow vase (I'm guessing 1920's-40's), a brass Japanese house, a vintage Cape Cod souvenir tea bag holder (made in Japan), a vintage Rings and Things ring holder, a wood burned "thing" that I'll show below, and a white mystery item that I'm going to include in a give-away! Ha! I just noticed Chloe's ears at the bottom of the below photo!
Now, I know there's a term for this kind of wood-burn-carve technique, but it escapes me right now. This wood "knife" says Camilla, 1924, on it - with a house and a teepee on a river bend, or seaside. I am so curious as to the history behind this! It's beautiful! And it only cost $2.00. In fact, there were two $2 items, and the rest were 50 cents or $1.00. A good day, I'd say!

How great are you to include me in your post today!?! Thank you so much. And thank you so much for your sweet comments. I am so glad you found me. I adore Miss Laurie aka Magpie too.
I didn't realize how much my post would resonate with folks yesterday. I never sort of know what I am going to post or write about and that just sort of happened yesterday. Those are usually my best ones.
You have a wonderful blog and I am going to explore now and of course add you to my blog roll.
Thank you again and please come back by and visit.
Big hugs!

What an unusual carved knife! I guess it was a souvenier?
Oh how fun. I have a thing for those clear jars with the seal in the lid. Don't know what it is, but they have to come home with me! ha!
Looks like a fun day! Love the knife - so unique. Chloe has such pretty coloring, and how wonderful that you've trained her to love your finds! laurie
D'you know I have one of those " abit of this, a bit of that, but all mine" sort of pictures to post too!!!
I feel like a kid in a candy shop!!!
:)
Love the old books! I'm always on the hunt for them myself :)
Sue,
You did really well at the thrift store! I love the little pine thingie with the hooks! I can see it now all painted cute! I am going to have to look for the poker chips, I have some things to make for a craft fair and I need little bases.....I loved Kim's post too....it helped me realize how very blessed I am alrady!
Thanks for the sweet words for my daughter, Sue. We're still dealing with the emoitional stuff today. She gets so mopey after anesthesia and cries all day even though she says she doesn't hurt. Hopefully she'll be more herself by tomorrow!
I know I'm supposed to talk about the stuff but I just can't get over Chole's beautiful markings! So many straight lines she looks a bit like a quiltt!
Hugs,
Dawn
I covet Chloe! She is one beee-utiful kitty!!!
