Welcome everyone! Sorry I haven't been blogging much lately - I've been busy as a beaver. It's the kind of busy where, at the end of the day, you say to yourself, "It doesn't look like I've done anything today!".
One of the little things I've done this week is make some Valentine hearts using those plastic beads that you iron together. I was looking for something in my craft closet and looked at the bucket of beads and decided to play with them. The cats enjoyed playing with them, too!
This little beauty I'm excited about! It's a celluloid fan that I thrifted a few years back. I know it didn't cost more than a dollar. I've never done anything with it, but I think I'll change out the old ribbon (will keep the old one safe in a baggie, though), clean off the ink on the front, and maybe tie a small sprig of fake flowers to the bottom.
Back view. It's 10" (25.5cm) at the widest, and 6-1/4" (16cm) long. I tried researching celluloid fans on Google, but couldn't find anything for this style that doesn't fold up, except for a much smaller one that was actually a postcard fan. If anyone has any info or leads, I'd love to know!

Just popped in and saw your pretty little crafted bead valentine hearts and your very unique fan.
You definitely look like you are ready for the day we celebrate hearts and love and chocolate, and cards, and all sweet things. :-)
Enjoyed your photos! Thanks for the Rednesday post.
What great valentine treasures! Thank you for sharing these. That fan is so unique, and I love your beaded hearts. I'm hosting a V'tine party on the 12th. I hope you'll link this post to it. laurie

That fan was a really great find, Sue! And your beaded hearts turned out so sweet. If the kitties were playing with them, you'll be finding beads in the weirdest places!
Happy REDnesday!

I so love the fan, very valentiney ^)^
My Rednesday
Those beads look so tiny, never mind the cats, I'd have them everywhere! I LOVE that fan!
Hugs,
Dawn
What a lovely fan, very unusual ... I have a couple but they are put away in boxes. Mmm, maybe I should put them out on display.
Have a Happy REDnesday Sue!

Don't you just love the valentines season? I love all of your graphics. It always brings a smile to my face.
I wonder if that fan was for a prom or something?
Even without cats those beads look like more than my patience could handle. You did a great job with them!
This is my first time joining Rednesday, I hope to be back from time to time.

Good Morning Sue...
Thank you for hosting this wonderful event. I was so tickled to finally getting around to adding to it. I love red,as you will be able to tell. It is everywhere in my house. It is such a happy color.
I love your beautiful header first off. It just welcomes you right on in. Thank you for sharing that.
The fan is so beautiful. It looks like something one sat in church and fanned on a hot summer's morning. Used to some companies gave those away for promotions too. You will never know where it actually came from. It is ashame it can't talk. Imagine the stories it might tell you.
The beads look so tiny. Oh my goodness.
This is my first time going Redensday but it will not be my last. Thank you for hosting this event.
Country hugs sweetie...Sherry
I love both the cute little hearts & the beautiful fan!
Happy Rednesday !
Blessings,
~Myrna
those ironing beads were so much fun for the kids! I like all your red and white hearts... they look Swedish!
Oh Sue, lover of red! Thanks for making Rednesday! It might be my favorite day of the week. Thanks for the sweet welcoming comment you left on my blog. I am for-sure frugal, and I like it that way! So happy to see I'm not alone!
Love your celluloid fan.....i have 3 of the same one and mine don't fold up either - but, who cares, when you love all things red you make exceptions!
Love your blog!
