VTT - 1932 BOOK + MOVIE: CROONER
Thank you, Suzanne, for hosting our weekly vintage party!
I love older books, pre-1960 to be more specific. Not only do they have cool covers and graphics, they usually read much better than modern books, in my humble opinion. They're more wholesome and entertaining. I picked up this one at a thrift store; it's from 1932. Can you guess what it's about?
In case you couldn't figure it out, this will tell you. I enjoyed it very much!
Do you recall (or remember!) the original famous crooner, Rudy Vallee? Here's a snapshot of him.
While doing a Google search on the book, I found out they made a movie of it the same year. Here are a few snaps from the TCM trailer. (That's Turner Classic Movies)
Cool graphics, huh?

1960's is when I was born so I don't remember the movie but looking at those pictures it looks like familiar to me. Thanks for sharing!

Very cool! I have heard of Rudy Vallee. Gosh, can you imagine singing through a megaphone and making the gals swoon?!
Mu mother-in-law was such an old movie buff...I an almost bet she saw this movie!! Great post :)
Blessings!
Gail
I like the older books too.
Well I was born in the 40's but it was actually my mom who was a big fan of Rudy Vallee. The pictures are great!

Nice post! Very well researched and interesting. Thanks for sharing and enjoy those vintage finds - you seem to be very good at treasure-hunting.
I love old books. Good photos of Rudy Vallee crooning.
Wow - that takes me back!
Funny when I hear the word crooner I immediately think of Bing Crosby!
I would love to read this book and I think its hilarious how the movie ads make it sound so racy!
I'm an old black and white movie lover, but don't remember seeing this one. Great clips you've shown and the book is a treasure.
I don't know which is neater the book itself or the fact you found one they had made a movie about! I agree with Miri, it's so funny how the trailer builds up this movie!
I like your new header. I went searching for the cherries! Found them. :)
OH, first your new header is so cute...love, love LOVE! What a interesting find, and post today....I leaned a thing or two! Have a happy VTT!
I wonder..do they still show the very old movies? As you may guess,I'm not much of a TV watcher..but some of the older ones were great. Happy VTT..have a wonderful weekend..
Very cool book. I love wholsome too. My great grandmother gave me her set of Zane Grey books. You knew in the first page or two who would fall in love but they never even kissed until the end of the book. All the anticiaption was much more romantic than the books of today!
Sorry I missed Rednesday. And I mean totally missed it ~ I thought it was Tuesday all day! Your border was terrific though, good move putting it on the wall instead of the shelves.
Hugs,
Dawn
