VTT - PIE TIN & McCOY

A few simple items for VTT today. The first is a heavier old tin pie plate that I've had forever. For about a year I've had it outdoors with stones in it. I recently dumped out the stones and washed it and was I surprised to see what was stamped into the back!

Look closer . . .
Now, if I'm not mistaken, this mark means it's from the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York. And, if that's the date, it's from the year it first opened! You see, the hotel(s) were first built in 1893 and 1897, but (for my unknown reason) was demolished to make way for the Empire State Building. They rebuilt on Park Avenue, and it opened in 1931. I'm hoping (and romanticizing) that this is a Waldorf Hotel luncheon pie tin from 1931!

Let's move on to a less romantic item - a humble little McCoy planter in a happy bright yellow! It holds my plant markers.
Have a great week, and don't forget to return to Suzanne's to resume viewing the other VTT treasures!

I wonder if the plate has anything to do with Waldorf schools.

I too think the pie plate just has to be from the Waldorf Astoria lunch service but even if not- a pie pan from 1931 is so cool!
