REDNESDAY - ENAMELWARE AND ROSES

Happy first Rednesday of August!

Mister and I splurged this weekend and hit some yard/barn sales. Got lots of goodies!

First off, I found this great piece of red-trimmed enamelware with lid. I don't know what it's for, but I'm guessing a loaf pan or bread box. It's pretty big at 12-1/2" x 8-1/2" x 4-1/2 deep"

Next is this darling cardboard chest with roses all over it! This will reside in my bedroom.

And the piece-de-resistance is this fantastic vintage apron - red trimmed and roses to boot! I just can't get enough of the angled pockets and pleats! And, at only $2.00 from an ex-antique dealer!

As much as I love vintage aprons, I've always been pretty selective at the same time. My grandma wore these bib-style ones "every day of her life", so I've been looking for just the right one to remind me of her - and this is it! (Or the first, anyways!) My mom was an apron wearer, also, but she wore the half aprons - with big pockets for her tissues and cigarettes, lol!

I'm cheating with this photo - there's no red in it (unless you're color blind!). But I got these two items at the yard sales also. Vintage Pepsi bottles are not common, in my neck of the woods anyways, so I was excited to find this (for $1.00) - I'm a big-time (caffeine free, diet) Pepsi drinker.

The measuring spoons are interesting because they're not the usual light-weight aluminum ones. They're heavier, and probably stainless.

Hi Sue, Happy August to you!

Everything is darling - I've got the itch for some enamel ware too, I just love it! Your apron is the cutest! My mom wore a half one too. One day after she passed away, I happened to go up to see my dad at the house and he was washing the dishes and wearing her pink chintz apron. So cute. Makes me smile and tear up thinking about it.

Happy Rednesday!

Glad you had a good outing with your hubby and found so many neat things. I have seen a lot of aprons, but do not recall one like this. A great memory reminder for you.

I have a loaf pan sized enamelware pan with lid with black trim like yours! I use it in the summer to store sliced cantaloupe, since I enjoy using my finds so much!
I'm an apron fan too!

How did you get that apron's picture? Did you climb up on a ladder?!!! That is one awesome apron, I gotta say. I would have grabbed that up in a heartbeat.
I love that your mom kept her ciggies in her apron pocket ;)
Very pretty cardboard chest of drawers. The colors on it are so pretty. Great finds, Sue :)

SuperDuper reds! I have a few of my grandmother's aprons but no red. I have my other grandmother's red trim washtub that she used to wash peas in before blanching them. I'd love to check out your bookshelf full of books!

You had a good week! I always love enamelware , but the red apron is so cute. I remember my Grandma wearing the bib style apron too. Brings back great memories. Thanks for hosting the Reds Party.

You've had a very successful week with your finds Sue. I have seen pans like that before but only with blue trim, never red! That apron is so cool, very rarely find them in that style anymore.
Happy REDnesday to you.

I don't have a lot of RED, but I joined in anyway. I am glad I can access your blog. The Whatcha Working on Wednesday one is showing up as linked to malware or something. So I don't know what to do there. I have lost everything I had on my craft blog except the blog posts. I can't find all my gadgets I had. Very frustrating. I don't know how to get the gadgets back either.

Anyway, I love your REDS. That apron is so cool. Love it!

I think the pan was used as refrigerator storage back in the day. I have a couple and I use them to store cookbooks in.

And that is the cutest apron I have ever seen. I would have done the happy dance.

Oh, I am such a sucker for enamelware! I have a shelf (or two) full. I don't have too many reds, though. Love your apron and what a bargain! If you can get those dealers when they are ready to sell, you can get some good stuff!

I love that enamelware piece, because it reminds me of my Grandma! All of her pots were red-rimmed enamel like that. And your apron reminds me of her too. She also wore the bib aprons every single day of her life. Lots of good times hanging out in her kitchen, watching her bake!
Happy REDnesday!

Cute, cute, cute apron and I love the enamelware pan. I used to have a few that my Mother in law gave me...I think they were lost in a move, sadly.
