A BIRD IN THE HAND . . .

So yesterday afternoon I happened to look out the window and see one of the cats playing with something. I waited to see if it was a mouse or a chipmunk but then I saw feathers.

I ran out to chase the cat away and saw a Goldfinch sitting on the ground terrified. I picked it up expecting it to fly away but it didn't - thought it must have been injured or in shock. So I went over to the garden bench and sat down with the bird in my hand - sat there for about 15 minutes until it recovered and flew away. Thank goodness it was warm out!

As the old saying goes, "a bird in the hand . . ." !

I love cats except when they catch a bird. I know it's nature but hard to see. So glad this one survived!

That is THE BEST post ever~!

I am so bummed when I go out to fill my feeders and find feathers askew on the ground below...knowing all to well that the red tail hawks have struck again. The saddest was when it was bright red feathers from a cardinal...they mate for life you know. Anyhoo, enough of my sad "tail" ..I am glad you story had a sunny ending.

Oh how precious. I cannot believe how much God has been grabbing my attention through birds lately. I recently wrote about it and here I see this today yet again. You have me in tears. Beautiful picture. Thanks for sharing.

Don't you just love it when nature gives you a chance to get close???? How wonderful that the bird was OK....one thing that cats do I do not like....they go after my baby quail too.....I don't a cat but I have to be on the look out just the same .....GREAT photo!

So glad it all turned out okay! My little Sweet Pea has caught 2 birds... :( didn't make it, 2 mice, a vole, toads and frogs...she is just a hunter! Makes me a little sad :( It's just her little nature and being a Jack Russell!

How wonderful you had the camera handy - the lighting is perfect for that shot - quite frameable. It's a lovely bird.

How about bell collars? You were there though to save it...nothing is accidental. I have an indoor cat but 2 dogs...one of which is a hunter...mostly of baby rabbits. I caught her twice this Spring but alas, it was too late. She thinks she is doing her job and I guess who am I to argue with how the world operates....thank goodness I am not in charge!
