REDNESDAY

Greetings friends! Have you ever seen such a thing as frozen cherries? This was one of National Geographic's Pictures of the Year (last year, I think). I love it!

Or how about a fish in a basket? I just can't, for the life of me, figure out why!

But, seriously, folks . . .

In our old house (that burned down 7 years ago), I had a small toy stove that was red and white. I forget the brand, but it still had some of its' utensils and pots and pans. A few weeks ago, at a yard sale, I saw this one. Mister said yes when I told him it was only $20 (for those of you not 'in the know', that's a bargain). I was so excited! Hot dog anyone?

Another yard sale item - a soup bowl, I'm guessing, or oatmeal or dessert. There was an identical one with it, but very cracked, so that makes me think they weren't sugar bowls; it's the size of a small cereal bowl. Says "Maddock, England" on the bottom.

That's all for me this week - you're turn!

Love your "new" stove....and, yes that is a bargin. They are hard to find in shops, so to find one in a yard sale is pretty remarkable. Thanks for do all the work you do to host Rednesday.

The bowl is so pretty. Too bad the other one was cracked. I'm hoping to find a pair of small bowls for my salt and pepper. I'm finding it easier to use the bowls vs. the shakers or grinders. I hope I can find something as nice as this.

Thanks for sharing and I hope to post something tomorrow for Rednesday. As usual, thanks for hosting.

Aw, you got your little stove back. It's sooo cute - you were meant to have it. I want to say those bowls are for holding sugar cubes. Could that be right? Have a wonderful rest of the week, Sue and Happy REDs :)

That fish in a basket represents France's April Fool's day. Don't even ask -- the French can be tres strange, non?

Hello, it's my first time linking up with you today. I popped over from my friend Kim's blog. I love the little bowl you found, and I am thinking it's a "finger bowl". They were very popular in the 40's and were served with the dessert course in order to clean your hands.

Hi Sue! I know I'm a day late....Love the red finds. I agree with everyone else, that toy stove is too cute. The Fancy soup bowl is sweet.....English did a lot of brothy soups so they drank it..using the handles. Oh, and the fishy flower basket...I bet that was from a religious Catholic Easter Card...reminder of the 12 loaves and fishes story in the New Testament. Or, a vintage image/ad for a Fish Mongers Catch of the Day..hehe.
I'm off!

I love it when someone gives and opinion and when they give an honest opinion, I love it even more. Going to subtract the pillows from the corner and see how I like that. Thanks for the comments. See you next Rednesday.
