THANKSGIVING

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day with one of my brothers, one of my sisters, and one of her sons! Mister worked - got triple pay for the holiday so I'm glad for that. He came home just in time to see everyone as they were leaving.

Here is my tablescape with my vintage Homer Laughlin duBarry china (and my sister outside the window!).

On to Christmas!

A FEW FINDS

Boy, I've been doing a lot of thrifting this past month, but you don't hear me complaining! Here is a cake dish or platter in the Memory Lane pattern, which I collect. These are my everyday dishes.

I was thrilled to find, yet, another little suitcase in a pretty blue and pale pink plaid!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. I did with one of my brothers and one of my sisters coming over. My 22-yr-old daughter wanted to go to Kohl's (department store) for Black Friday to get a Nintendo 3DS bundle that was on sale for $150, which was $30 cheaper than the competitors. So I figured "why not"! We headed out at midnight to wait in a cold, 27F/-3C, line for an hour before entering the store. But, we took turns waiting in the car!

We were about 20th in line (of at least 100) so were able to go directly to the item, then to the register, and were out in less than two minutes! Only drawback was, after getting to bed at almost 2:00 a.m. I had to get up at 7:30 to go pick up Mister from work. I got to snooze off and on during the day, though!

Yesterday I took down my Thanksgiving decorations and started to bring my Christmas items out. The wreaths are hung on the windows and the "Welcome" sign is on the door! Let the fun begin!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

We Gather Together Hymn

We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;
He chastens and hastens His will to make known.
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing.
Sing praises to His Name; He forgets not His own.

Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining His kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, were at our side, all glory be Thine!

We all do extol Thee, Thou Leader triumphant,
And pray that Thou still our Defender will be.
Let Thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy Name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

REDNESDAY

Thanksgiving greetings to all you U.S. citizens! Enjoy your food 'n football tomorrow!

Hey, don't forget about my Christmas Swap! Sign up in the post before this one.

Hello, Sunshine! I went outside early this morning before school and snapped a photo of the frost that covered everything. It was so beautiful! Of course, pictures don't do it justice. (It was so thick that Becky thought it had snowed out!) I cropped this photo but, then afterwards, noticed on the original pic that there was a pretty little rainbow down in the corner . . .

The sun reflecting off the frost! And there's the red - in the rainbow! God's promise that He'll never cover the entire earth with a flood again.

I filled a shoebox for the annual Operation Christmas Child. I was feeling all pleased with myself as I left it on the table at church but then when I was going to the parking lot in walks a family carrying 6 boxes! Well, that humbled me pretty quickly!

My sister always gives me a bag of little goodies for my birthday each year. Last week she included some cupcake papers - Mary Engelbreit and cherries. Made my day!

Here is an Autumn vignette on my craft table. Except for the spotted feather, they are collected on the ground under and around the bird feeders.
I guess that's enough for one week! Enjoy your holiday!

REDNESDAY

I'm so upset! There's something wrong with the exposure on my camera and the pics are coming out white. I was going to take some pics of my Thanksgiving preparations, in red, but now I will be making pictoral substitutions!

I started out my day making coffee in my red Cuisinart coffee maker. Then I poured it into my Cath Kidston red spotty oversized mug.
I pulled out the Endust and a red flannel dust cloth and set to work in the living room!
After dusting, I opened my recipe box and found my recipes for Apple Pie and Sweet Potato Casserole. Wednesday is baking day!

I was going to show you the red McCoy cookie jar that I got at the thrift store a few days ago for $3. Just imagine this one in red, without the lid and metal handle!

REDNESDAY

My turkey died on Sunday . . . the little fellow in this picture had a mate, but Becky knocked it over accidentally and it smashed to smithereens.

On the same day, which happened to be my birthday, Mister dropped and broke my yellow Fire King bowl! He said that instead of giving me china for my birthday, they were getting rid of some!
Now I have to get a replacement yellow bowl - we use that one all the time.

Mister had this maraschino cherries jar in the barn and decided, recently, to let me have it. I soaked the label off and filled it with my vintage wood and spun cherries!

Here's a clean image of the lid in case anyone wants it!Oh, by the way, thanks for all the offers to be my tag partner! I chose Wendi of SoulDelights, because she was the first one to respond.

MY GIFT AND THANKSGIVING DECOR

See these gorgeous pillows? They are a very thoughtful gift from a dear blog friend, Dawn, of Cottage State of Mind, and Debbi of Marionberry Cottage! These will keep me thinking happy thoughts of Summer all Winter long! Get a load of that cherries ribbon, too! Thank you so much, Dawn!

Here are a few of my Thanksgiving decorations. I love this banner, but it keeps getting mistaken for a Christmas one! I guess people don't realize it has Fall leaves on it.

This pretty plate Mister brought back last Fall when he was on a men's retreat.

This is a cheap, repro plate (made in Columbia!) that I had picked up last year at either Marshall's or Home Goods. It's a Myott design "taken from the original copper engravings", and done up quite nicely, if you ask me. I like this particular one because it has some color to it - not just all browns, like Johnson Bros., etc.
