THRIFT SHOPPING

I've been out and about recently and here's a few things I brought home with me.

I was so happy to find another little English Cottage item. This is a small canister that's only 3-1/2"/9cm tall. It's about the size of a coffee cup so I don't know if it's from a child's set or not.

I was surprised to find these hadn't been sold before Christmas. And I was very happy to find them at 25% off!

I've been (inactively) looking for a toy iron for years and stumbled on one last week. My toy ironing board finally has a mate!

This is how we measure snowfall in Boston:

REDNESDAY

I want this . . .

but I have this . . .

I want this . . .

but I have this . . .

I want this . . .

 but I have this . . .

I suppose I could start by cleaning and organizing! Mister saw me making Valentines at my craft desk and said the desk itself looks like a holiday card! Not sure what that means, but it's a compliment nonetheless!

REDNESDAY

I have a shelf above my computer that I painted white with red trim. Some of my "collectibles" are stored there ~

Mister picked up a computer desk some months ago and this little glass jar w/lid was in one of the drawers - so cute! It's just shy of 2" tall.
What? Do you think I wouldn't buy a Jessie Pez? LOL! The mushroom guy is a Steinbach; and the ceramic cottage is a measuring spoon holder sans spoons.
The oriental cat teapot wears my name bracelet that Jade and I made last year. The old red rabbit was purchased for 25 cents at a yard sale on Saturday. I've never seen a red rabbit, and . . . if you look close, there are yellow cherries painted on its' chest!! You know he was just waiting for me to buy him!

A CORNER OF MY ROOM

The sun was shining into my "play room" this morning, so I took a shot. It was so nice and bright and sunny! Of course my point-and-click camera makes it look cloudy. This next photo is to the left of the door. (Oops! Crooked picture in the picture!)

I have my Africam cameras on while I'm working, and a herd of water buffalo decided to grace us with their presence! They all took turns rolling in the mud!

This is a shelf in the playroom.

For those of you not familiar with my "playroom", it was originally the dining room in our house plans but I claimed it for my own. It houses my washer/dryer, computer table, pantry shelves, craft stuff, eBay/Etsy stuff, plants and plant stuff, home school books, and (eeuw!) the litter box! Why the litter box, you might ask? Well, no one wants it in the bathroom and we tried it in the basement, but out-of-sight-out-of-mind. Besides, it's cold down there in the winter! Thank goodness the cats only use it during the winter.

Mister picked up this framed photo a few months ago because he liked it. I do, too, but we just don't know where to hang it. As you can see (because I put a yardstick beside it) it's quite long. Her body looks a bit scrunched, but that's just from the angle. Actually, these Victorian-style photos always seem a little spooky to me!

I can't wait for tomorrow! It's the semi-annual auction that our fave thrift store hosts. Mister helped them in the Spring and I went, too. It was fun! The proceeds go to helping a prison ministry.

REDNESDAY - YARD SALE & THRIFT STORE STUFF

Man, time flies doesn't it! Welcome to REDnesday once again!

A few thrifted finds ~ I love red plaid, always have. Must have started with the red plaid lunchbox/thermos I had in elementary school! Here I found a handkerchief and a Liz Clairborne mini purse. The cashier at the thrift store was going to charge me 50 cents until she saw the LC name on the inside, then said $1.00. Ah, the price we have to pay for designer labels, LOL!

Here, the book was thrifted, the Bible yard saled (this spelling always makes me think of salad!). I love the colors of the Pooh cover; 1961 edition.

I finally got a Hollyhock to grow from seed! And it's red, hooray! I don't know why, but I haven't been able to grow them from seed for about 10 years now, and I refuse to pay for a potted plant! I have it against the back of the house, south side. Now I just have to do a little "landscaping" around it to make it more presentable!

And, last, is my RED computer chair, with the new RED gingham pillow I got at a yard sale, with my RED mousepad and RED vitamin bottle in the background!

A LAST MINUTE EDIT: I was just over at the Blog O'Cheese where CheeseBoy has a post and video on "a real live celebrity". I had to snap a pic of the guy, Ben Cooper, on his porch ~ look at this cool red chair, I love it!

Time for your delightful reds!

REDNESDAY: FOREVER LOST & OPTIMUS PRIME

My Tribute ~

Yes, I admit it, I am a "Lostie". LOST was my favorite show - no one was allowed to talk to me while it was on! Now I have to buy the dvd set!

WELCOME TO REDNESDAY!
I welcome you through the back door to my "work" room, which is graced with my cheery, cherry rug!

Just before I was readying this post, I noticed that there were a bunch of reds all grouped together (unintentionally) on the kitchen table.

The DS cover graphic is from a Japanese Anime called Keroro (in America, Sgt. Frog).

A quick yard sale down our street on Sunday produced - oh joy of joys - an Optimus Prime mask (Transformers) for Teen, and some Transformer figurines also.

And last - a sneak peak at some red that's going on my "Wish You Were Here" Summer Postcard swap for next month.

VTT - A YELLOW VIGNETTE

I'm participating in VTT again this week. Go to Suzanne's blog to see all the eye candy thumbnail pics for today!

I've showed some of these pieces before, but today I'm doing it as a whole. This is the top shelf over my computer table. I didn't intentionally buy yellow items, but it's always been my second favorite color, and this display kinda just evolved.

Coffee pot - eBay, Mini Crock - Seasons of Cannon Falls, Glass vase - Thrift shop, Yellow Vase - Anchor Hocking, Hello Kitty Gardener, Canister Set - eBay unmarked

Cup & Saucer - Royal Albert Country Scenes 'Primrose Hill', Yellow vase - yard sale, Green vase - Anchor Hocking, Child's Hanger - yard sale, Cherry plate - eBay.

REDNESDAY - KNIFE AND NOTEBOOKS

I almost didn't make it! Teen hooked up her Wii to the internet so we can watch Netflix movies directly on the t.v. and, in doing so, lost the wireless connections to Mister's and my pc's. But, thank goodness, we got it all straightened out.

This is my red pocket knife that sliced my forefinger yesterday while sharpening garden tools! Right on the knuckle, too, so I had to put a makeshift splint on my finger so I wouldn't bend it and bleed to death!

This is a cute napkin holder that I use for notebooks and paper and stuff.

And, here are some red tulips that popped up yesterday!
I have been using every available minute this past week to soak up the sun while puttering in my garden - it's good for the soul!

A NEW LAMP

I picked up this lamp at one thrift shop and the shade at another. I adore the little cottage scene.

But, I'm not sure if the shade looks too big for the lamp base. So I need your opinion! Tell me what you think, please!

Thank you, everyone! The general consensus is to separate them. I'm sure we can do it amicably and without a lawyer!
