The turkeys fence-sitting. It was so funny when the three jumped down on the other side of the fence and the fourth didn't know where they were!
I found the purple RD book at a thrift store and it looks wonderful in the purple half-bath!

LATE WINTER SUNSHINE
I just had to share with you some sunshine my neighbor sent over yesterday. She's such a sweetie! Unfortunately, they do not have a pleasant odor; but, they look great in my enamel coffee pot!
I decided to display all my English Cottage ware in my purple half-bath because I already have the picture hanging there. They look well together!
Here's how Boston's snowfall amounts look so far:
Today, Wednesday, is hitting 40F/5C to begin the melting process. Unfortunately, the next few days will only be a high of 25F/-4C.

A FEW OF MY EASTER DECORATIONS
Hello! Happy Easter!
This is a vintage card of mine that I changed the wording on. I love the spray of tulips and the blend of pretty colors. Feel free to use it.

Jade (2nd grader I babysit) likes to rearrange these bunnies - this time it looks like they're in church!

Some more vintage cards - they look better if you close-up on them.

This tiny "teapot" decoration is only about 2" tall (or short). The colors blend so well with the candy tin.

The design goes all the way around, too!

These "wascally wabbits" would not photograph well for me, no matter what I tried. But, they're so darn cute that I included them anyway. Got them, in the basket, at a thrift store.

'nother shot ~

Some of you may remember this banner I made last year. It says "A happy Easter", with a ducky holding each letter. This is the word Easter.

No, this isn't the I Dream of Jeannie bottle! Although it resembles it a bit. A pretty purple cottage postcard for my purple bathroom. A scan, for your use, is below.

A cloth bunny basket to decorate the tank!

I hope you all have a blessed Easter tomorrow!

REDNESDAY

Welcome everyone! Snow and cold are gone here. It's Indian Summer - yesterday was 60F/15C, today is supposed to get up to 68F/20C! I'm lovin' it!
I'm sitting here at the computer with one of my Africam cams on, watching Wildebeest and Impalas at dusk. Three Giraffes wandered through a few minutes ago. With Daylight Savings Time, South Africa is now 7 hours ahead of me so, while it's 11:00 a.m. here right now, it's 6:00 p.m. there.
This first set of photos I took on my way back from church on Sunday. Someone new moved into this house within the past year and, recently, he put out some interesting yard decorations . . . and I love them!
The first is a 1940's Farmall tractor. The owner said it originally had steel(?) wheels instead of rubber tires because of the war effort.

This awesome Texaco Sky Chief gas pump has been restored. I forget if he said it was from the 30's or 40's. His two dogs were running around and jumping all over me so it was hard to focus! Notice the hydrant on the right - probably for the dogs!

We never got around to talking about this old fire truck, because our discussion had turned towards the dogs. One of them had snuck through the invisible fence and was sauntering down the street! I had a nice visit with them all!

I forgot to show you this first aid kit last week, from my auction stash. I don't know the year, but it's got some cool stuff inside!

Don't forget that Friday, Nov. 11, is the deadline for signing up with the Tag Swap! ;)

PURPLE AT THE COTTAGE COLORS PARTY!

I'm joining the Etsy Cottage Style "Cottage Colors Party" this month with their featured color Purple! As many of you know, my half-bath is painted purple and has lots of vintage goodies in it! Enjoy your visit and don't forget to wash your hands on the way out!
Starting with the top of the small hutch I'll mention the wallpaper border. The purple Wisteria is what influenced my choice of paint for the room. I'm so in love with these tea cups, especially the big Breakfast Cup in the middle!

This plate is one of a matching set. The other is to the left of the window.

Yellow primroses with the violets!

Thanks for stopping by! And don't forget to visit the Cottage Colors Party!

'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE REDNESDAY

'Twas the night before Rednesday when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even the mouse.

The aprons were hung by the window with care
In hopes that a cooking spree soon would be there!

The host lady nestled all snug in her bed
While visions of blog memes danced in her head.
When up from the downstairs there rose such a clatter
She sprang from her bed to see what's the matter.
Away down the stairs she flew like a flash
Tripped over the glue gun and fell on her ***.
Recovering quickly she ran through the rooms
Nearly stumbling this time o'er the red-handled broom.

But the miniature sleigh, from her shelf, and eight deer.
With a wee little driver - so cute, full of sugar;
She knew in a moment it was the Knee Hugger!
He motioned for her to go down the hall

To look at the ladder that held all the towels.
They each were displayed with pride of their fame.
He whistled, and shouted, and called them by name.

"Now, Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen!

"On, Comet! On, Cupid, On, Donder and Blitzen!"

But, wait! At the top rung, one more for the prose
It was Rudolph, the one with the shiny red nose!
"We'll show these to your friends who live online,
They're always there, no matter the time."
Then to the computer to visit the blogs;
She will show them her bowl and little egg nogs!

By mid-week they'll be getting, oh, so much redder!
Such pretty decorations and crafts they did see,
It was hard to decide the most beautiful tree!

"It's time to head back to bed, I now fear;
For it's almost midnight, dawn soon will be here."
He bid her adieu, on the shelf, in his sleigh . . .
"Have a good night, and a happy Rednesday!"

AUGUST TAG-ALONG AND A BATH RE-DO
Hello everyone and happy August!
I made a new Iris bed this weekend. Most of my Irises didn't flower this spring and I was thinking they were in too much shade. But as I dug them up to move, I was dismayed to find that the problem is Iris Borers.
Up until last year, I've only had the antique Honorabile (darker yellow), and an antique lighter yellow, with no problems at all. The year before last I was given an order of Irises (from a reputable company) for my birthday. So it's these newer ones that got eaten up. I was able to salvage 5 or 6 rhizomes and hopefully they'll be okay in the spring.
Now onto better things! Last week Mister brought home this green corner shelf from a yard sale ($1). I finally decided that it would look best in the downstairs bathroom. I ended up redecorating the whole room!

As you can see, I moved some of my white milk glass items in here.
And, here is my August Tag-Along ~ a relaxing month before back to school. The middle image/saying came from a greeting card. The colored shell pieces are vintage mother-of-pearl craft items. The kid leaning on the fence is a girl - see her long pigtail?
I'll see you on Rednesday!

AND NOW FOR A LITTLE WHIMSY . . .
I decided to do something out of the ordinary. I have this advent "calendar" in the shape of a garden shed, that I purchased at Gardener's Supply Company. I bought it not for the advent part of it, but because it's a garden shed "toy"! So, today, I stuck it in the bathroom!
It has a rotating base and it now sits on the toilet paper cupboard (that used to be a cd storage cupboard - those cubbies are just right for t.p.!). Something to play with while on the throne - hee, hee! Here are some close-ups:

And, for those of you who are a wee bit curious about what the sign says ~
A close-up of the wallpaper border. I fell in love with the greenhouses and wisteria (the inspiration for the purple paint), and it has chickens for Mister! (He used to have some)

And, for those of you who are a wee bit curious about what the sign says ~
